I’m Jan Freeborn, Chief Instructor and Manager of Freeway Driving Centre.
I’ve been a driving instructor since 2001 and started Freeway in 2006. My previous career was as a Training Consultant with British Airways where I
developed my high customer service training standards. I’ve also been a part-time horse riding instructor since the 1980’s which included Riding & Roadcraft as well as often being involved with cycling proficiency at schools, so I feel that I’ve always been in training in some form or other. I’m passionate about driving and my dream job would be to present “Top Gear”.
My name is Dave Fuller and I live in Crowthorne. I know the Slough, Windsor and
Bracknell areas thoroughly, and am very patient and understanding of the
individual needs of each pupil that I work with. I will always adopt a
progressive learning program, mutually agreed with each pupil. As a full member
of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, I am fully committed to teaching
driving skills for life.
Hi, I'm Sue Franks, I have been with Freeway Driving Centre since August 07. I
have an excellent pass rate including two pupils with zero minors! I enjoy
teaching my pupils and love to see them enjoy their lessons. I am 100% honest
and committed to my pupils and feel so proud when they pass. As a mother of 5 daughters I have a natural caring and responsible attitude, and
genuinely want what’s best for my pupils, whatever their different needs. I intend to continuously
improve as a driving instructor and do my part to improve driving standards.
Hi, my name's Zahid. I trained as an instructor with BSM and started with
Freeway shortly after i passed my final exam. I chose Freeway because it was a
small professionally run family business with the personal touch, which is a
breath of fresh air after working for a big multinational company in the past.
I'm a people person and in this job you get to meet all sorts! What i really
like about this job is when you get someone that has never even sat in a
drivers seat and over time turn them into safe, competent and confident
drivers, not just so they can pass their driving test but for the rest of their
lives. But my biggest buzz is the look on the pupils' face when they hold up
their pass certificate and say to me ' I've passed!' Great stuff!
Hi, my name is Cheryl and I’m fairly new to the Freeway team. I became interested in driving tuition after
teaching my two sons to drive, and find it a very rewarding career. I have
always worked in areas that involve lots of people contact, hairdressing and
airline cabin crew for example and the main attraction is the interaction with
varying types of people, driving instruction is no exception to this.
I became interested in Freeway, when I was looking at driving schools, because I
think they offer a great deal more support to their pupils. For example, the
amount of information and advise on the website. I hope you will find it useful
to you.
Good luck and thank you for looking us up!
"Hello, My name's Leon, 24. My interests involve cars! I enjoy driving, always have, that's what made me get into driver training. I'm quite an outgoing person who enjoys the outdoors. It's always good meeting new people from all walks of life. These are the things that make me passionate about being a driving instructor."
I’ve just passed first time after 28 lessons and I only had one minor! Would definitely recommend freeway!
“Just wanted to say thank you Jan for helping me through my theory test. I can’t believe I scored 100% on the questions and 65 on the Hazard! 1 down, 1 to go!”
What more can I say? 10 lessons and passed first time! Thankyou Freeway!
'Having experienced another driving school who were not up to scratch, finding
Freeway and my instructor Zahid has been very lucky. If you want to be taught by someone calm, who will give praise where it is
earned and tell you in a constructive way how something could be done better,
then look no further! Being able to have a mock test with Jan, the owner of Freeway, before your real
test is also a huge bonus and means I won't be going through the disappointment
of failing my test like I did with my previous instructor. A really great school and I'd recommend it to anyone.'
“I took my driving lessons with a different driving school and eventually passed
4th time. But I still felt nervous when I passed and the examiner suggested I take Pass
Plus. I asked my instructor but he didn’t do it so I went to Freeway to do it. In 6 hours I learnt more about driving than I had in the last 30 lessons! I wish
I’d found Freeway earlier as I would have saved myself £600! I’ll be recommending Freeway – not my last instructor, to my friends.”
First, a big thank you to both you and Leon for helping me pass my practical
driving test, I would not have come this far without Freeway.
When I started with Freeway, I was a bit disillusioned and unsure of my ability
to become a driver. Leon helped me build confidence in myself through patient
coaching. Learning to drive is not only about picking up the 'technical'
aspects of driving, but also about believing in oneself and being able to stay
motivated through the learning process. Leon was patient with my mistakes and
was open in providing feedback that helped me improve. My previous instructor
was capable, but lacked patience and the ability to motivate. I would recommend
Freeway to anyone wanting to become a driver.
I started learning with Freeway after a bad experience with another driving
school. At first I was a bit nervous, I had driven before, but I wasn’t confident at all! But these fears were soon dampened when I started driving
with my new instructor. Their friendly and patient manner brought an air of
calm to the lesson, which helped me to learn the many helpful hints and tips
they had to offer. Soon I felt confident and at ease with driving, and before I
knew it I was ready for my test. However, I didn’t feel too nervous; I had done a mock test a few weeks before, which highlighted
the areas I needed to improve on. My instructor went through these areas again
with me and other areas I was a bit nervous about in the time running up to my
test. My test went well and I passed first time! Now I am going to do my pass
plus with my instructor, but in a way I feel a bit sad to finish my lessons, I
quite enjoyed it!
“After several years of on/off driving lessons with various instructors and 3
failed tests, I found Freeway and thought I’d try again. Immediately I noticed a difference in attitude. These people really want me to pass! But after 8 lessons I once again found myself still getting into a muddle about
the same old things, my instructor Sue confirmed I still wasn’t ready for test and I honestly thought that this time I would quit for good! I told Jan my decision. However, she wasn’t going to let me go that easily. The next week she gave me a free trial in the automatic. I couldn’t believe the difference. Why had no one told me before how easy it can be? Now my test is in 3 weeks and
instead of dreading it, I can’t wait.”
